This month, Charlie turned 8. In honor of that event....

8 Bizarre Things Charlie Knows Way Too Much About
1. Animals (He once spouted off with Ant Eaters can eat 50,000 Ants a day... I, on the other hand, didn't even know ant eaters were called Ant Eaters because they eat ants.
2. The History of Potato Chips (If you need to cut them out of your diet, call him, he'll ruin them for life for you).
3. World War 2 (When an 8 year old knows the names of the battles, it's gone too far)
4. The Ocean (Again, if you never want to get in the ocean again, feel free to ask Charlie about sea creatures and the germs they can pass)
5. The Court System (He's in a play about a trial, and has recently begun using words like Prosecuting Attorney, Public Defender and Sentencing Phase)
6. Star Wars - (Knowing the name of the characters seems normal to me, but knowing their home planet and species is approaching freaky).
7. Kissing Girls (This should be self explanatory - but I so did not expect this one at 8 - 80 would have been slightly more comfortable for me).
8. The Immune System (I have three kids with this disease, and only one of them has told his doctor he wants to find a way to replace t-cells without a bone marrow transplant....which I might be okay with....but he was four when he said it).
Now, my favorite part....
8 Things I love aboout Charlie:
1. How incredibly kind he is.
2. The way he lays on the couch to read
3. The way his mind works
4. How compassionate he is
5. How involved he wants to be in making the world a better place.
6. The way this school year is shaping him into such a confident young man
7. The quickness with which he falls asleep each night
8. What a great big brother he is
:)
5 voices to be heard:
Happy Birthday Charlie! I hope this year will be all you wish for it!
Happy Birthday Charlie! 8 is great, or so The Boy tells me.
What a loving tribute to a great son.
Oh my little Doodle Bug - how did you get to be 8 already? And such a handsome youg man! Can I still call you doodle bug?
Grandma Bug
Happy birthday to a special boy! I love that he loves facts--it shows how much he reads. Reading is such a wonderful pastime for me. Note to me: spend less time on computer and more time reading!
Happy birthday to my favorite 8-year-old! What a lovely post, Dayna. I think this is great you do this for your children. What a wonderful keepsake.
And the part about kissing girls...made me smile. I know it shouldn't. But it did.
